The Australian Mountain Doodle is a designer breed that blends the intelligence of the Australian Shepherd, the gentle, family-oriented nature of the Bernese Mountain Dog, and the low-shedding, highly trainable qualities of the Poodle. This mix creates a friendly, social, and versatile companion with a soft, wavy, or curly coat and expressive features. Known for being loyal, people-focused, and eager to participate in daily life, Australian Mountain Doodles adapt well to active families, homes with children, and owners looking for an engaging, affectionate dog.
These dogs thrive with a combination of physical activity and mental challenges—walks, hikes, puzzle toys, structured training, and outdoor play all help keep them satisfied. Their coats vary by line, but most require regular brushing and routine professional grooming to stay healthy and mat-free. Thanks to their smart, intuitive nature, they respond well to positive reinforcement and enjoy learning new skills. While they’re generally easygoing, they do best in homes where they won’t spend long hours alone.
For families seeking an intelligent, gentle, allergy-friendly companion with a balanced temperament, the Australian Mountain Doodle offers the best qualities of three beloved breeds. They’re affectionate without being clingy, playful without being overwhelming, and adaptable enough to settle into many different lifestyles.
