Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Spot A Pup, operated by SPOT A PUP LLC, collects, uses, shares, and retains personal information through spotapup.com and related services. Where law requires consent for particular processing, we will request it separately.

Depending on your activity, we may collect names, email addresses, authentication identifiers, account preferences, breeder business and contact details, general location, listing descriptions, photographs, animal details, communications, support inquiries, IP addresses, device and browser details, search activity, security logs, and cookie identifiers.

Breeder profiles, puppy listings, photographs, business descriptions, general location, and contact details you choose to publish may be visible to the public. Copies may persist outside our control after deletion.

We use information to maintain accounts, publish listings, connect users, provide search, answer support requests, prevent fraud, secure and troubleshoot the platform, improve features, comply with law, and enforce our terms. Where required, processing rests on contract, legitimate interests, legal obligations, or consent.

If AI-assisted search is enabled, search queries and relevant listing or breed information may be processed by AI technology providers to return results. Do not enter government ID numbers, financial credentials, passwords, or other sensitive data in search prompts. We will assess privacy obligations before enabling additional AI uses.

Breeders verify their identity through Persona Identities, Inc. Persona collects an image of a government-issued photo ID and a live selfie, and may create a facial geometry comparison to confirm the selfie matches the ID. Persona processes this information on our behalf only to verify identity, prevent fraud, and support safety investigations or lawful requests. Spot A Pup receives the verification result and may access the submitted records to investigate fraud reports; ID images are never shown to buyers. Biometric data is retained no longer than needed for these purposes and in any case no longer than permitted by law, then destroyed. Breeders give consent within the Persona flow before any image is captured.

The platform currently charges no fees and does not process puppy payments. If paid services are introduced, a provider such as Stripe may process payment information. We will update disclosures before activation; we intend not to store complete card numbers directly.

Cookies and similar tools may support authentication, security, preferences, performance, and analytics. We will provide notices and consent or opt-out controls for nonessential technologies where required. Browser settings may also limit cookies.

We may disclose information to hosting, database, communications, security, analytics, AI, and other service providers; to other users when you intentionally publish it; to verification or payment providers if introduced; to authorities when legally required; and in a lawful business transfer. We do not sell personal information for money. We will assess whether advertising or analytics constitutes a regulated sale, sharing, or targeted advertising and provide required choices.

Mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in and consent records, and the verification codes exchanged for phone confirmation are never sold or shared with third parties for advertising, analytics, marketing, or any other purpose outside delivering and securing messages you request. Only the communications provider that sends SMS or verification codes on our behalf receives a mobile number, solely to deliver those messages, and it is contractually prohibited from using it for its own purposes. Contact information, including mobile numbers, is likewise never sold to breeders, advertisers, data brokers, or list purchasers.

We and our providers use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the data processed, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Protect your login details and report suspicious activity.

We keep data as reasonably necessary for service delivery, security, legal compliance, disputes, and fraud prevention, then delete or anonymize it when appropriate. Backups may persist until their normal retention cycles expire.

Email hello@spotapup.com to request access, correction, or deletion. We may verify identity before responding and may retain information where permitted or required by law.

Depending on applicable state law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of information; opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling; appeal a denial; and avoid unlawful discrimination for exercising rights. Contact hello@spotapup.com.

Where Canadian privacy law applies, users may have rights concerning access, correction, consent, and complaints. Information may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where providers operate and may be subject to lawful access there.

The platform is intended for adults age 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through account registration. Contact us if you believe a child submitted information unlawfully.

Breeder websites, social platforms, and other linked services control their own privacy practices. Review their policies before sharing information.

We may send essential account and security communications. If we send marketing messages, we will provide required notices and unsubscribe options. Opting out of marketing does not stop necessary service messages.

Mobile numbers and SMS opt-in information collected for verification, inquiries, or notifications are used only for those purposes. They are never shared with, sold to, or disclosed to advertisers, analytics providers, or any other third parties — including for advertising or analytics purposes — and we do not transfer SMS consent to anyone outside the communications provider that delivers our messages to you.

Our primary audience is in the United States and Canada. Data may be processed elsewhere through providers, subject to applicable international transfer requirements.

We may revise this policy as features and legal requirements change, including when verification, payments, or new tracking services launch. We will provide notice and obtain consent where legally required.
