The Cane Corso Italiano, particularly from non-AKC lines, carries on the heritage of Italy’s guardian dogs. Massive, muscular, and highly protective, they were bred to guard property and livestock while bonding closely with family. Though intimidating in appearance, they are affectionate and loyal to those they trust.
They require experienced owners who can provide firm leadership, early training, and socialization. Daily exercise and mental challenges keep them balanced. Their short coat is easy to maintain, but their size and temperament demand responsibility. In the right hands, the Cane Corso Italiano is a steadfast, courageous companion.
